iSclack iPhone Opening Tool Review

Trying to get into an iPhone to carry out repairs can feel a little like attempting to open a walnut whilst wearing oven gloves. Apple has deliberately designed its devices to be tricky for users to disassemble, in part to prevent unwanted tampering and damage but mostly so that they have to go to its official stores to get any work done.

Luckily some clever third party firms have come up with gadgets that can overcome the tricky nature of the iPhone’s construction and enable safer, slicker repairs to be carried out by most people. The iSclack opening tool is just one such item and could work wonders if you need to replace the screen on your smartphone.

Comprehensive Compatibility

The iSclack is designed to work with the iPhone 5, 5S and 5C, as well as being compatible with the iPad 4 and Mini range of tablets from Apple. So if you have any of these devices then it should be possible to use it to open them up while minimising the chances of damage occurring.

You can also get iPod spares and tools designed for older models of the iPhone, but make sure you read the product descriptions carefully to avoid disappointment.

Ingenious Design

The iSclack is a deceptively simple tool that consists of a clamp-like lever mechanism, with two suction cups mounted on one end.

The idea is that you just need to remove the screws from the base of the iPhone 5, then place the phone between the suction cups and press them carefully but firmly onto the front and back surfaces. Once they have gained purchase, you can push the other end of the mechanism together and the force this exerts should pry the two halves of the handset apart.

This means that there is no need to use any lever tools which could leave marks and scratches on the frame or display; you can avoid doing damage with this type of equipment if you choose the iSclack instead.

Italian Origins

The iSclack is created and produced in Italy by well-known iPhone repairs specialist DottorPod, a company that has gained a reputation for creating clever solutions like this for a range of Apple devices over the years.

It is solidly made from durable plastic and the end which you hold to exert the levering force that pulls apart the phone is cushioned for comfortable use.

Even displays which have been smashed and shattered can be coupled with and removed using this tool through the use of an additional adhesive layer. This is important if you want to avoid pulling off shards of glass rather than the whole thing in one piece.

You will need a combination of tools to complete complicated repair work on the iPhone and iPad ranges and may need iPod spares depending upon the device you own. If all else fails, consult a professional, but the iSclack means that this is not always necessary. You could even put this on your Christmas wish list and hope that Santa can squeeze down your chimney with it - without the need for tools of his own.
